About This Trainee Accountant in Southampton, SO15 Role
Recruiting Today is currently seeking an experienced Trainee Accountant in Southampton, SO15 to join a well-established organisation in Leeds city centre. This temporary position offers an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals who can start immediately and contribute to a busy finance department during a critical period.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and providing general administrative support to the finance team. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
- Maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable records
- Performing bank reconciliations and credit control activities
- Assisting with month-end financial reporting and procedures
- Managing petty cash and processing expense claims
- Liaising with suppliers, customers, and internal departments
- Filing and maintaining organised financial documentation
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad-hoc administrative tasks
- Using accounting software systems (Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Ensuring compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in accounts administration or finance support role
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Available to start immediately or at short notice
- AAT qualification or working towards (desirable but not essential)
